Kioro was absolute luxury. I say that even when the hotel was under construction during my visit. Even that didn’t take away from the essence of this place. This is luxury at its finest. It is ideal for couples, but being the solo traveler I am, I went to this divine resort alone. And it delivered. There was sprawling hot spring pools.
As the number 33 followed me around my trip, in street signs and the clock. I was sitting in seat 33A when the captain came across the intercom, stating that we were flying 33,000 feet above; I knew I was headed in the right direction. And when I entered that magnificent room, with a balcony overlooking the Arenal Volcano, I twirled around the room as if I had reached the heavens. Then, in a flash, the phone rings, and I answer to hear the concierge welcoming me to my stay, and noted, if you need anything at all, pick up the phone and dial 33.
I was able to come here to experience true luxury. I sat on that balcony and watched the sun rise and set over that volcano. That was reflecting the rebuild after the eruption in my heart at the time. I wandered through the grounds, like a princess, trying every hot spring pool, all mine for the taking.
The views continued at the Heliconias Restaurant, which opened all day, with a breakfast buffet and à la carte selections for dinner, all with delicious Costa Rican delights.
The service was lovely, as my waiter one night must have sensed my struggling tongue and would only allow me to order (and communicate) in Spanish. The whole meal. He helped along the way, and it created a sweet memory of connection.
As I walked outside, howler Monkeys swung around in the trees, and the landscaping was divine, as I would meander around the walking paths, stopping in awe of the toucans.
The service was so helpful as they arranged private transport and taxis for you to get down to La Fortuna, which is roughly 15 minutes from the Hotel.
This location isn’t ideal for walking around the town, but it is for relaxing in the hot springs!
